Reception class spend alot of time outside on the field and on the decking, however, not that we are complaining, it is quite hot on our little heads. So... to fix this, we have made ourselves some bandanas to keep our heads nice and cool whilst we enjoy the sunshine.
Don't they look great???
Keep checking the website through the week to see what other classes have made with their t-towels.What a busy week Reception have had. We started the week learning how to count in 5's. We have been painting our hands so we can make a handprint rainbow for a class display. It is so much fun painting our hands.
On Wednesday we had our P.E session on the field, but we got a little side tracked and visited our campsite. Because of all the rain and sunshine we have had the grass in our campsite area has gotten a little long. Because an extension lead will not stretch that far we had to resort to other methods to cut the grass.
On Thursday we went back to the campsite for our weekly visit. After cutting the grass on Wednesday it was much easier to get in. Miss Brown finally managed to make a fire after we had collected lots and lots of different types of fuel for the fire.
Because it was Bethany's last day on Thursday we all sat round the campfire eating the chocolate she had bought us. It was delicious. Thank you Bethany!!!
On Friday we were visited by a theatre company that taught us all about being safe at home, at school and on the computer. We have had such a busy week we are all really ready for the weekend. See you on Monday morning ready for our fun creativity week!!!
Our new topic in Reception is 'The Seaside!' We began the week by looking at the features of the seaside and making fabulous treasure maps. We made them look very rustic by staining and scrunching up the paper.
We put lots of different obstacles on the map such as mountains, palm trees and sharks.
Adam is very proud of his map.
By the end of the week when they are fully completed they will all look fabulous.
To continue with our seaside theme we made seaside sandwiches. Most of us didn't fancy traditional egg and tomato or tuna so we had either jam, ham or cheese.
We used seaside shape cutters to cut our sandwiches.
They were delicious!!!On Thursday Reception made our weekly visit to the campsite. There was a little surprise waiting for us when we got there. The benches in the campsite were covered in little coloured pieces of string. We found out that the coloured string was little pieces of fairies breath. Ashton said the fairies had come to the campsite to get warm by the fire. Caitlin suggested that we go and have a look for the tree where the fairies lived. We wandered across the field until we found the tree. It was covered in fairy breath.
We collected 2 pieces of fairy breath each and helped each other to make a bracelet.
On Wednesday Reception class went on a mini-beast safari to Gibside. Melanie took us to the chapel to see what mini-beasts we could find.
We used little pots to catch the mini-beasts. The pots had a magnifying glass on the top so we could see the features really clearly. There was lots of little ants hiding the cracks in the pavement.
We walked up the avenue towards the stables and found lots and lots of mini-beasts. Rohan kept a check of how many different mini-beasts we could find. There were just far too many flies to count.
On our way up the avenue we heard some baby birds chirping away. We looked carefully to see if we could find where their nest was. Can you spot it?
To find more mini-beasts we walked into the woodland area where we found hundreds. We were all very brave and picked up lots of different minibeasts like dragonflies, ladybirds, woodlice, millipedes and many more.
Can you see what is in the tub?
The final treat of the day was shaking the tree to see what fell out.
Lots of little creepy crawlies fell out. Why don't you try it at home to see what is living in your garden?
As part of our Forest School project Reception class have yet again visited our campsite.
We made our way around the field collecting lots of different natural materials. However, when you are using your hands to collect things, they get full pretty quickly. So to help us on our journey we made crowns and attached double sided sticky tape.
This meant that whenever we found anything that was interesting on our journey we could just stick it to our crowns and continue hunting.
Can't you tell we are pleased with our crowns.
We found lots of interesting things such as feathers, daisies, leaves, grasses, tiny pine cones and many more treats. Liam in year 6 was a really big help and helped us stick the materials on our crowns when we were unsure where we had a space.
Doesn't his crown look good?
Take a look in the gallery for a close look at all of our crowns.Reception class have had such a busy time this week and today was no exception as we donned our wellies and created an alluring haven for mini beasts, in our quiet area.
Here is the area before we started.
We collected some old logs .....well the girls did!
Some of us planted a range of herbs and bedding plants....
While some of us gave the area a good weeding.
After a lot of hard work, we gave the plants a good drink of water....aren't the results fabulous?
Lets hope the mini beasts love it as much as we do.
Receptions new topic this term is mini-beasts. Today we all went to the City Learning Centre to explore some interesting ICT equipment that allowed us to look very closely at different mini-beasts.
Before we could use the digi blue microscopes we had to go and find some mini-beasts ourselves. We went down by the river to see what we could find.
We looked under bushes, rocks, stones and bark and found some very interesting things. We collected them in jars to keep them safe and then when we took them back to the CLC to put them into mini petri dishes.
We put them underneath the microscope and connected the microscopes to our computers.
Can you guess what mini-beasts these are?
![]()
When we had a good look at the mini-beasts we used some software called '2 create a simple story' to draw some pictures of the mini-beasts we had found.
We had a fantastic time and are looking forward to finishing our stories when we get back to school.
Today Blagdon came to Crookhill. All the resources we collected yesterday have been brought to our forest school ready for us to start building our very own campsite.
We started by transporting all the natural materials from the Land Rover on the yard to the far end of our field which is our new forest school site.
Once we had moved all the resources we started collecting resources from our own field. This was a really important job as we needed lots of sticks to make the fence for our campfire.
The next part of our building plan was to mark out the area we needed for our campsite. Richard found the centre and we used string to measure out a 3m circle where our fence would be. We made a human campfire to see how big it would be.
Some of us were the fince, some of us were the benches and some of us pretended to be the fire in the centre.
It was really tricky putting pegs into the ground to mark out the area we needed. We used mallets to help us get them securely into the ground.
The next job wsa to put the fence posts into the ground where the markers were so we could start to construct our fence.
We used the sticks we collected to make the fince being careful to measure the sticks against the fence posts. We had to use sticks that were just the right length so they would stay in place. It was a very tricky job.
Now our fence in made we had to make some seats to put inside it. This involved some very careful rolling of logs. We worked together and helped each other get the logs to the campfire area.
Our benches wouldn't be complete without feet though so we all helped to tie them together.
The final part of building our campfire was actually making the campfire. The stones we used were very heavy but we managed to roll them into the centre of the campfire.
When it was all finished we sat and relaxed around the lit fire. It was very relaxing and after a hard 2 days work we all needed the rest.
For some of us it had been a very long 2 days and our "batteries have ran out."
We are all really looking forward to having lots of fun around our campfire.
Today Reception class have visited Blagdon as part of our Forest Schools project. We have been chosen to be part of the scheme where we will be able to develop our ouw Forest School site. Today was all about taking part in a range of activities that raise their awareness of woodland animals, plants and trees but mostly having fun in a natural environment.
We started off our day by walking into the woods and talking about all the things that could harm us. We came up with some great suggestions from bee stings to brambles and nettles.
Once we knew how to keep safe in the woods we went to visit the campfire. Richard and Audrey showed us how to walk properly around the campfire to keep us safe at al times. The campfire was our favourite part of the visit.
We even got to taost marshmallows and make sandwiches with digestive biscuits.
Our marshmallow sandwiches were delicious!!!
We spent the morning investigating the woodland area and even bumped into a good witch. She asked us to help her make some magic potions for the animals of the forest.
We made our potions in little goblets using materials from the forest floor. We made potions for badgers, foxes, birds, owls and other woodland creatures. We think they are going to love them.
We ate our lunch out by the campfire making sure we took all our rubbish away with us.
After lunch we had fun experimenting with den building. Willow made a fantastic den all by herself.
We have had a fantastic day in the woods. Tomorrow Richard and Audrey are coming to visit us so we can set up our own forest school site.
Check the website tomorrow for pictures of our site!
Today Reception class have started their topic of the farm. We went to Bill Quay farm to see all the different animals. Suzanne showed us around the farm and told us lots of interesting things about the animals. Did you know they have some of the rarest pigs and sheep in Britain?
This pig is called Manny. Isn't he huge? He was very lively and noisy when we fed him.
He used his very large snout to sniff out the food we had thrown in.
We fed lots of different birds on the farm too. They were very excited to be fed. We talked about the different things we get from the animals. We know that eggs come from chickens and the meat on our Sunday dinners comes from some of the animals too.
One of the best bits of the trip was stroking the new born baby lamb. He was very cute and was lovely and soft.
We also got to stroke a 17 year old Shetland Pony called Toby. He stood very still whilst we all said hello.
We saw lots of baby animals too and learned their names. We know pigs have piglets, sheep have lambs, rabbits have kittens and a baby cow is called a calf.
These sleepy piglets have had a very long day.
This chick was born in the early hours of this morning. There are 5 altogether. This was the surprise at the end of our visit. We had a lovely time.
A big thank you to Mr Moore for organising our trip and Denise, Miss Teasdale and Caitlin and Pauls Mums for helping us today!!
To all Reception parents - Please remember it is our trip to the farm tomorrow lunch time. Children do not need to wear their uniform. They need to be dressed appropriately for the weather and have wellies with them. All children need a packed lunch which we will eat before we leave school.
See you tomorrow
Miss Brown.
Reception class have been working on their topic for sustainable schools. As part of our topic we are looking at preserving the buildings and grounds. The trees we ordered from the Woodland Trust came this week so we planted them in the lower part of the field.
We dug holes in the ground deep enough for the tree to be covered. We packed in the compost so the trees would not blow over in the wind.
Once they were planted we watered them well because we know that the trees will need water to help them grow.
When our trees were planted we had a look around the grounds to see if there anything else that needed to be done. On our travels we found a huge patch of mud. We think it is a giants footstep. What do you think???
We followed the footprints and it led us into the forest area of the field. There was lots and lots of fallen branches. Willow thought that it looked like the fairy houses had been destroyed by the giant and that we should help the fairies by building them some new homes.
This looks like a very cosy home for a fairy. To continue with our Fairy Tale topic in Maths week Mr Moore planned a great Gingerbread hunt for us. Those sneaky little gingerbread men hid all around the playground and left us clues to help to find them.
We had to use the skills we have been learning all week to help us find them. We had to use our knowledge of positional language to help us find where they were hiding. Some were next to the steps, on the bin, behind the seats and in lots of other places.
We only managed to find 16 though so we are going to have another look at lunchtime to see if we can find them.
This term we have been looking at Fairy Tales. To support our work with this in Maths week we have made our own Gingerbread house from Hansel and Gretel.
We needed to make the right shapes for the walls. We thought squares would work best.
![]()
It was important that our walls were not too heavy so they would stand up properly. This meant decorating them carefully with sweets that were not too big.
We started off well trying to keep the decorations on our gingerbread house symmetrical. This didn't last too long!!!
We got a little bit carried away putting on lots of different sweets. We did talk about the sweets we were putting on though describing them by colour and size and some of us were able to count the sweets we had put on.
Rohan decided that we needed a cone for our gingerbread house chimney and felt that an ice-cream cone would be perfect. He was right.
In the end we think our 3D gingerbread house looks amazing.
To finish off the afternoon we read the end of Hansel and Gretel. "Nibble nibble little mouse, who is nibbling at my house?"
There was only one thing left to do!
Eat it.
We really enjoyed eating our amazing gingerbread house. A big thank you to Mrs Grant for helping us to make it!!!
Today Reception class have enjoyed the snow at the Country Park. We went there to help us with our topic on nocturnal animals and animal shelters.
We started our trip by walking into the woods looking for animal tracks. We were given a card that showed us lots of different kinds of animal tracks. Can you guess what made these tracks?
If you can't guess what animal made these tracks then you can ask someone in Reception because they know!
When we were in the woods we found other signs that animals have been there. Don't look any further if you are a little bit squeemish!
Can you tell which animal left this lovely present?
We learned how important it is for animals to use their ears in the wild so they can hear if predators are coming. We put on blind folds and used our ears to see how many different sounds we could hear. We were all very good at this so Fiona, the park warden let us do a trail blind folded. We were good at this too.
Some of us tried peeking under the blind fold - but that just spoiled the fun so they quickly put them back on.
To finish our trip in the woods we built some animal shelters using the natural materials we could find around us.
By this time we were all freezing so we went back to the room for our lunch. We really felt we had earned our yummy packed lunches.
Take a look in the gallery for the rest of our photos.Today KS1 had a visit from Mrs Hart and Billy Bear. We looked at the importance of keeping safe in the car. We all got measured to see if we were tall enough to sit in the car without a booster seat. None of us were tall enough because we have to be 135cm tall.
![]()
Billy Bear told us how important it is to wear our seatbelt when we are in the car.
Mrs Hart showed us how to walk sensibly on the path always holding a grown ups hand.
We are looking forward to Mrs Hart and Billy Bear coming back to visit us in May.
Look in the gallery for more pictures.
Today KS1 have enjoyed their music workshop. They have been learning about different types of music. We learned how to make echos in music singing the story of the fish who could wish.
We sang Old McDonald had a farm to show how we can add parts our music. We had fun holding the puppets and pretending to be the animals.
We also got to build building blocks to show how we can all sing something different to enhance the song. We enjoyed playing the different instruments in our different blocks.
Have a look in the gallery for the rest of the photographs.
Today Reception class have been learning a new sound - j. It is a very tricky sound to learn so we thought of lots of ways to help us remember it.
First we did lots of jumping, jogging, jiving and even tried some juggling. Next we made some wobbly jelly.
This afternoon we made some jam sandwiches and practiced writing the sound in the jam on the bread. It was very sticky but we really enjoyed it.
Best of all was licking our fingers afterwards.
Reception class are learning all about nocturnal animals this term. We thought that we would take advantage of the snow and go looking for animal tracks on the field. Take a look at our photos and see if you can tell which animal made these tracks.
Most of the children thought it might be a fox!!!
These odd shaped tracks went straight into the trees. We had no idea what could have made these tracks. Any ideas?
There were some parts of the field that were so deep with snow that some of us could barely stand.
Well, since most of us were soaking wet and covered in snow by this point there was only one thing left to do .....
Snow angels of course! What else would you do???
It started to snow really heavily when we were on the field so some children thought it might be a good idea to see if the shelter we made before Christmas really works.
Hi everyone.
The DVD's of the KS1 Nativity are ready. You can buy them from the school office for £1.50 from Thursday morning. Hope you enjoy!!!
What a busy day Key Stage 1 have had. First the Nativity this morning and then our Christmas party. There was some amazing outfits.
We started our party playing traditional party games like musical statues,
musical bumps,
and of course, corners.
We really enjoyed showing off our dance moves in the best dancer competition. We had 4 winners, a boy and a girl from each class. Well Done Rohan and Chloe from Reception and Ellie and Jake from Class 2. Miss Brown and Miss Malley may steal your dance moves!
Half way through the party we were tired from all our dancing so we ate the yummy food that we brought in.
There was so much food left we will be eating it for the rest of the week.
We ended our party with the traditional Conga. We did the conga through all the classrooms - it was working great until some of the girls lost their shoes.
Don't forget to look in the gallery on page 3 for the rest of our party photos.Today Key Stage 1 showed off their amazing acting and singing skills in the Nativity 'a Christmas Recipe.' We now know all the important ingredients we need to make Christmas special. Our nativity featured Father Christmas and his elves, some presents and some festive birds (robins), some snowflakes and the traditional shepherds, sheep, angels, Christmas stars and Wisemen.
Miss Brown and Miss Malley would like to say a big thank you to Jessie - the cook who made our fabulous Christmas Recipe and David and Amy for being fantastic narrators. You all worked so hard to learn all your lines.
A special thank you to Connie for stepping in as Mary at the very last minute.
You all did amazingly well and made us very proud.
Look out for the Video of the Nativity which should be posted on the website this week (fingers crossed).
If you would like to buy a DVD of the Nativity they will be on sale in school from Thursday (fingers crossed again) for £1.50.
Thank you to all the parents and Grandparents who came and showed their support. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Reception class have had a visit to the CLC today and have been exploring lots of different ICT equipment.
Mr Knox started off by showing us how to use 2 paint so we could make our very own Christmassy picture.
![]()
Kaylyn used the mouse to draw some fab Snowmen and finished off her picutre with Christmas lights.
We also had a turn at using the Bee-bots. We learned it is very important to clear the last instruction before programming a new instruction, otherwise it will repeat the last thing we asked it to do.
We got to make music on the music mats.
But the best thing was the dance mats. They were tricky to use at first but we soon got the hang of them.
Even Miss Brown had a go... Connie was absolutely fabulous and nearly beat Miss Browns score with 12,000 points. Well Done Connie.
We can't wait to go back and do some more great ICT.
Look out for our Christmas pictures being posted from the CLC.
Today KS1 have had a magical day. We went to Houghton-Le-Spring to visit Santa at the farm.
We met William the Farmer when we arrived and he reminded us about how important it is to keep our hands clean when we are at the farm and not to touch our faces or mouths. We were all very good and kept washing our hands and using the anti-bacterial gel.
Some of us got to go and see Santa first. We had to write a Christmas list before we went to see him so he could remember all the toys that we would like from him for Christmas.
Some of us were a little scared of Santa but we all were brave and went up to see him. We were very pleased we did!
We told Santa all the toys we would like for Christmas and he told us he would try his best to get us some of them but maybe not all of them!!!
If was really fun when we got to have a ride in Santa's sleigh.
When we had visited Santa we got to put on our very own Nativity. We got to wear costumes and we sang Away in a Manger.
We had a surprise visit from one of Santa's very special reindeer. She was called Twinkle and she was so soft. Most of us wanted to stroke Twinkle but we had to do it gently and not altogether because we did not want to frighten her.
When we had finished in the barn we got to play outside on the tractors. We had an amazing ride on the bullet train. William drove us around the farm on the tractor pulling along all our carriages. Even the staff got to have their very own ride. It was such good fun.
Take a look in the gallery on page 3 to see some other pictures.
As you all know by now this creativity week has been about sustainable schools. A large part of that was about the importance of recycling. The whole school participated and brought in piles and piles of junk to make fantastic creations. However, there was lots of junk left over. Reception class in particular had a vast amount of junk left.
![]()
What on earth are we going to do with all this rubbish? Well recycle it of course!
We split ourselves into teams and sorted the rubbish into different piles. Some children collected and flattened cardboard boxes, some collected bottles, some children were in charge of paper and others were in charge of any other plastic.
When it was all sorted we put each pile into a different bag.
Reception class have spent alot of time outside this week so since it is Christmas we are having our Christmas tree outside this year. We have been making natural ice baubles using materials we have found on the field. Take a look at our tree!
We know the baubles will melt eventually so we are busy making some new ones!
Following our theme of 'going green' Reception class have been out exploring the field again. Today we built shelters using all of the natural materials we could find around us. We used some of the branches we collected yesterday. Take a look at our fabuous team building skills.
![]()
It was so cold outside today that this hard work warmed us all up!
Take alook at our very cosy shelter.
Look how many children we could fit inside!
Make sure you check the website tomorrow. We are going to be decorating a Christmas tree outside using frozen baubles with natural materials inside. This week is creativity week and the whole school is looking at ways to make us a greener school. Reception class have chosen to look at looking after and developing the school grounds by supporting the wildlife that use our fields. Today we have focused on the birds that use our land and worked on building nests for them.
We collected leaves, sticks and nice soft objects such as feathers for the linings for our nests. We made sure they were not on the ground so if any birds do use these nests they will be safe from other animals.
The children throughout the year have a strong focus on junk modelling using rubbish such as boxes, tubes and bottles. We have taken this one step further and are using the natural materials around us to build other things. We have started collecting large pieces of wood to made dens and other things.
We used our team building skills to work together to move large branches.
Some pieces were just to big to move ......
but we had a go anyway.
Make sure you keep checking the web to see the other things we do this week.
Reception class have been measuring detectives. We have been looking at different objects and ordering them by size.
We found lots of different objects in the classroom.
We started to measure objects using cubes once we had mastered ordering objects by size. We found we could measure lots and lots of things just using cubes.
We tried to measure things outside aswell but some things are just to big to measure with cubes. We might have to find another way of measuring things!!!
Reception class have been busy cooking again. To keep up with our healthy eating we have made flapjacks. To make them extra healthy we used honey instead of syrup and added yummy raisins.
We mixed all the dry ingredients together while Mrs Burke melted the butter, brown sugar and syrup together on the hob. We are not allowed to touch the hot pan.
When the butter was all melted we mixed it in with the dry ingredients. It went all sticky.
We put it into a lined tin ready for the oven. We took our flapjacks home to eat after our Kids R Fit session. Reception class are going to be super healthy!!!
Today Reception class had a go at being cheer leaders. Lisa from the Sure Start centre brought us all some pom poms and showed us how to hold them properly. Lisa showed us how to make our bodies into the letters that spell out Crookhill. We put together a Crookhill cheer and had lots of fun doing it.
When we had finished our cheers we were transported to under the sea. Can you tell what sea creatures we are?
For some of us this was all a bit too much for a Friday afternoon.
This week Reception class have been reading the story 'Whatever Next' by Jill Murphy. We found it really helpful when we were learning the 'r' sound. We made lots of cool rockets in the junk modelling to take us on our own journey to the moon.
Some of us made rockets out of linking cubes following our theme of repeating patterns.
Now that our rockets are finally ready we needed to make some food to take with us for our trip to the moon. The children decided they wanted to take little buns.
First we weighed the butter and sugar and creamed them together.
Then we had to beat the eggs.
Next we had to weigh and mix in the flour, we then added our beaten eggs.
When the mixture was ready we put it into bun cases.
When the cakes were ready we got to ice them. Don't they look fab? We can't wait to take them on our trip to the moon.
This week Reception class have been very busy investigating patterns outside the classroom. We went to the bottom of the field (got very muddy) and collected lots of natural materials.
We found leaves, sticks, feathers, berries, conkers and conker shells.
Take a look at some of the repeating patterns we have made.
We found that we can make repeating patterns with lots of different things.
This week was our first peer massage session. The idea of the program is to help the children to relax and aid concentration particularly in the afternoon sessions. Mrs Robson, the trainer, came in this afternoon to teach Reception children the first 3 moves. There are 15 altogether so we have to work hard over the next few weeks to learn them all. We are then going to show class 2 all the different moves so they can enjoy the benefits too. Everyone throught the school will be trained at some point. See our snaps of us in action below.
It is really important that we ask the other person if they would like a massage before we begin. Eeryone has the right to say no.
This stroke is called the eye glasses. See how relaxed we look!
The cat grip stroke is tricky. It is hard to remember which hand to put on our partners forehead.
Some of us almost fell asleep.
The final move is called the baker. We really liked that one. We are excited to learn the next three strokes after half term. Parents get ready for some very relaxing massages.
To continue with our theme of being healthy, Reception class have been making healthy sandwiches. We talked about all the different sandwiches we like to eat and as you would expect, our favourite sandwich filling is chocolate spread. We decided that this would not be the most healthy sandwich to make so we came up with some healthy choices.
The most popular sandwich made was ham with lettuce and cucumber. Take a look at our photos to see our finished sandwiches.
Buttering the bread was really tricky!
Cheese and cucumber is a great choice.
Our sandwiches look delicious. Have a look in the gallery for the rest of the photographs. This term Reception class have been looking at different ways to keep fit and healthy. This week we sorted out healthy and unhealthy foods to help us design what we would like on our fruit kebab. It was tricky working out which foods were really healthy and which foods we just really really enjoyed like pizza and chips. We read the story Olivers Fruit Salad to help us decide what we could put on our fruit kebab.
We designed the kebabs in our topic books first and then used our design to help us make the kebab.
We used our topic book to make sure we put on all the fruits that we liked.
We think they look and taste delicious. Take a look in the gallery for the rest of the photos.
This morning Reception class had a visitor. Mrs Hart brought Billy Bear into class to show us all how to keep safe when we are out and about.
Billy Bear and Mrs Hart showed us how to safely cross the road. We must always hold a grown ups hand.
We learned all about reflective clothing and how it is really important to wear clothes with reflective stripes on when we are out at night.
We turned the lights off and used a torch to show how the reflective stripes light up. We also learned that it is good to wear bright colours when we are out at night so we are easier to see.
Reception class know how to keep safe when crossing the road. We can't wait for Billy Bear to come back to teach us more things about keeping safe after Christmas.
Reception class are learning all about the body this term. The children asked to make gingerbread men so thats what we did! We looked at where all the parts of the face would go and identified the head, arms and legs.
We gave our gingerbread men (and women) eyes and a nose and some lovely chocolatey buttons.
KS1 have been musical jungle explorers this morning. We have been listening for musical opposities such as high and low, loud and quite, long and short sounds and fast and slow. We sang some fantastic songs to help us listen for these opposities.
We found lots of animals in our class that needed to go onto the ark before the flood came. Here are Mr and Mrs Noah helping all the animals onto the ark.
We helped Mr and Mrs Noah to build the ark.
Some of the animals on the ark make long sounds like buzzing bees and others make short sounds like snapping crocodiles.
We sang a song like Little Red Riding Hood using our high picthed voices and our low pitched voices when we were singing like the wolf.
We all had great fun! Take a look at the photos in the gallery to see what else we got up to.
This term Reception class are taking part in Kids R Fit. Lisa will be coming to school every Friday afternoon to help us get fit and healthy. We played lots of games to get us active and moving. Lots of us had very red cheeks when we had finished including Miss Brown and Miss Fradgley.
In Reception class we have been preparing for the Harvest assembly. We have been learning songs all about apples and picking apples from the apple trees just outside our classroom. Mrs Burke and the children made lots of apple crumble. Take a look at our photos to see how we made the crumble.
We mixed the butter, flour and sugar together. It was all sticky on our hands.
Mrs Burke showed us the apples. They were on the hob getting nice and soft to go in our crumble. Mrs Burke had to do this bit because they were very hot.
Doesn't it look delicious???
It tasted as good as it looked.
This week Reception took advantage of the lovely sunny weather on Tuesday. We followed a Numeracy trail in the grounds of the school. We had some tricky things to find such as plant pots, pieces of bark, sticks and stones and flowers. Take a look at our photos to see the things we found.
2 flowers!
1 very large tree.
4 leaves.
Plant pots.
Mrs Grant gave us stickers for being fabulous at finding all the different things. We can't wait to do it again.Reception class have been doing lots of cooking since they started school last week. Today the children made dough. They chose their own colour and what they were going to put in. They settled on light blue with big sparkles. Good choice!!! However, making play dough is not easy. Take a look at our photos to see our hard work in action.
Finally when the dough was finished we got to make our own sparkly gingerbread men. Don't they look good?
They look good enough to eat. Keep checking the website to see the other fun things we get up to in Reception.
