Tudor Roses
At the start of the school year, Year 4/5 studied the Tudors! As part of our topic we looked at the history of the Tudor Rose, which was the symbol for the Tudor Kings and Queens! We learnt that it was actually 2 different roses (a white and red) that represented the two different sides that fought in the 'War of the Roses' to decide who would be King! When Henry VII won, he married his opponent's sister! As a result he used both the Roses as his new symbol.
We used clay to create 3D models of Tudor Roses, it was very messy, but very fun!
They are currently on display outside the photocopier room!
Forest Fun!
Year 4/5 learnt all about Crazy Climates last half term! We studied the causes and effects of climate change and global warming, including melting ice caps, droughts and floods! As part of our topic, we went to Chopwell Woods to find out about how trees can help prevent climate change and other things we could do to help!
First we made a human line chart to show the increase in the Earth's temperature.
We also went on a nature walk to find as many different tree leaves as we could, then we learnt about the carbon that trees store. Then Chopwell Woods came to us! We learnt even more about the environment!
We had to find as many differnt kinds of trees as we could in our Forest School, we had to find new trees, old trees, trees that we could use as a wind break! It was very difficult, but fun!
We even made board games about our knowledge of Crazy Climates! Watch this space for pictures of our finished products!

Jack and the Beanstalk
Today, we kick started our Creativity Week off with a special production of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Looking pretty normal so far?
We were all very excited to see Buttercup. She had some super dance moves. We liked the way she moooooooooooved!
Can you spot what flavour milkshakes were on offer?
It all still looked like the original Jack and the Beanstalk UNTIL...
They climbed the beanstalk and ended up in...
NURSERY RHYME LAND!
Oh no it wasn't just any old Jack and the Beanstalk, it was Jack and the Beanstalk with a twist! All the nursery rhyme characters came to life!
Everybody loved it including Miss Welsh and Miss Teasdale who couldn't resisit joining Numpty in a bogey on down with Squire Bogey!
But in true panto style it all had a happy ending.
Please look in the gallery for more pictures and keep checking the website next week for more Twisted Tale fun from Creativity Week.
