KS1 Music workshop

What a magical morning we have had today! 4 musical wizards appeared in our community room today and we helped them make lots of musical, magical spells. We found lots of ingredients to put into the magic pot. Some of us were a little bit frightened of the spider.

We sang lots of magical songs and learned how to cast spells with our invisible magic wands. Have a look in the gallery to see us having lots of fun.

Bonjour! Welcome to French Club.

Some of our KS1 children have been taking a French club after school. We have looked at where France is and one of it's most famous landmarks. We have built our very own Eiffel Towers using multi-coloured artstraws. We think they look great.

Some of the girls though that they looked like hats.

What do you think?

EGG-cellent time had by all in Class 2.

An egg-traordinary event took place at egg-actly 1:30pm in our Quiet Area.  It was reported to Mrs. Kirkland that a large rabbit had been seen hopping about our school field.  Class 2 went out to investigate. They were very egg-cited and egg-static when they found some spherical objects hidden in and around ther area.  'Look what we have found' egg-claimed Class 2.

Science Week

We would like to thank Mrs.Kirkland for organising our excellent Science Week.  We had laboratory technicians from Shasun in Dudley showing us lots of fascinating experiments - Dr. Mark making loud noises and squirting water - Nigel Wild telling us all about food and Zoo Lab brought in some fascinating creatures!

Stories at Saltwell

Saltwell Circus Skills

Earlier on in the year Class 1 and 2 had to come to school dressed as their favourite book character for a trip to Saltwell Park. While we were there we saw lots of different book characters and some of them read stories to us. We even had a story in French. As well as listening to some great stories we had the opportunity to practice our circus skills. We even saw one of the men fire eating. Something not to try at home!!! We had a fabulous afternoon out.

Reception and Key Stage 1 Step Back In Time!

BeamishKS1 had a lady from Beamish come to talk about things from the past. We looked at how people used to live and compared it with how we live today. We really enjoyed getting in the tin bath. It is very small.

We got to play with all the old toys that children used to play with both inside and out.

Class 2 Visit to the CLC

On Friday 5th December, Class 2 braved the cold to venture down to the CLC. Our theme for the session was Grace Darling, as our topic has been the North East. We made some great photo books, added text and then also added audio to each page! It was great fun and hopefully coming soon will be some of our photo books for you to check out!

How clever?

Class 2 have many talents and in this project they combined two of them! First of all, we constructed models of a bus. Just like the tour bus we rode on when we went on our tour around Newcastle and Gateshead. Then we used our electrical knowledge to build a circuit to create working headlights. This made fabulous, realistic models, and to think they started life as a cereal box!

Vampire Rabbits Let Loose in Class 2

Vampire rabbitClass 2 are overrun by small, scary vampire rabbits! After reading 'Tinsel Toon' we made clay vampire rabbits just like the statue that features in the story. At first, they looked quite cute but once we painted them, they look pretty scary! We can't wait to take them home.
