« Year 5 seed dispersal investigation! | Main | Science Week Fun! »
This half term our topic is red kites. We have been finding out about these large birds of prey which were reintroduced to Gateshead 5 years ago. We have discovered kites eat carrion (dead animals), worms and beetles. On Friday we had a visit from Julie and Judy who work for Northern Kites. We found out loads about kites and we went kite spotting and tracking.
Red kites make their nests from soft materials. Here are some things which have been found in nests: a sock, a teddy, a flag and a pair of underpants!!!
We used special equipment and binoculars to spot red kites. We spotted loads of kites!!
We got really excited when we saw a kite!!

Charlie and I can't find the school blog so we're going to add this here.
Last verse.
Now I've got a hammer
and I've got a bell
and I've got a song to sing, all over this land.
It's the Hammer of Justice
It's the Bell of Freeedom
It's the Song about the Love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land.
OOOOH OOOh OOOh ooh
OOOOH OOOh OOOH ooh
OOOOH OOOh OOOH ooh ooooooooooh.
