Last night Year 6 went to Gibside straight after school. We had an action packed night planned.
When we got there we had time to unpack, make our beds and of course, have caterpillar races across the dorms in our sleeping bags. Well, what else would we do?
Our first activity was low ropes. It was sooooo much fun. Even Mrs Willoughby enjoyed this one. We had to have very good balance and upper body strength to get across the course.
We went back to the stables to have our tea. Some of us weren't too keen on the cheesy chops and chips so it was a good job they had lots of sweets, crisps and chocolate to eat to keep their strength up.
Our next activity was shelter building in a wooded area of Gibside. This was a really fun activity. We were in 4 teams and we had to design and build the strongest, safest and most luxurious shelter we could.
Some of us were a little adventurous with the matierals we found!
Interior design was a very impotant feature for our shelters.
Our shelters were surprisingly roomy.
Our last activity of the night was a bat walk. We saw quite a few bats. We used bat detectors and we could hear them flying in the trees around us. The bats make a different noise when they are feeing.
We were very tired after all our activities but it didn't stop us from staying up well into the night.
On Saturday morning, we had a delicious breakfast and went off orienteering. Most of us managed to find our way to all the landmarks and work out the clues. The badgers group took the more scenic route which missed out all of the landmarks. We took the woodland route to the top of the hill and back again. Oooopps!!! Never mind.
We thought our trip to Gibside was fab. We all got tickets for 2 for 1 entry so we can bring our parents along to show them just how much fun we had.
Take a look in the gallery for some more trip photos.

What a fantastic residential year 6 had this weekend. I hope I can speak for them all when I say it was great fun, everyone worked as a team and the behaviour was brilliant. I would like to thank Miss Sharpe, Mrs Willoughby and Miss Brown for giving up some of their weekend and most of their beauty sleep. Well done to Miss Brown for being the last one to bed at 2.30am !! and a prize must go to Mrs Willoughby who was the first up at 3.30am.
Revenge was very sweet when we had to wake the children up at 7.00am after only a few hours sleep!!! Looking forward to the Prom on Wednesday -I hope everyone has a great time!

By the sound of it everybody had good fun on there trip away. Jamie had a realy great time, his favorite activity was den building. He wasnt to keen on the cheesey chops but enjoyed his bacon sandwich this morning. He only lasted 20 minutes when he got home before he fell asleep and then slept for 4 and a half hours before we woke him up! Carnt wait to see more photos! and thank you to Mrs Easton, Miss Brown, Miss Sharpe and Mrs Willoughby.
