Class Six had an excellent time during maths week...
On Monday we were taught by Mr McCallion - he had us looking for ways to make any non-prime numbers between 1-99 using ONLY prime numbers - tricky stuff!
On Tuesday we did a Maths Trail around school and made our very own Towers of Hanoi. This is a very ancient puzzle that needs lots of logical thinking!
On Wednesday (World Maths Day!) we became magicians and performed an amazing trck with a cube net! In the afternoon KS2 enjoyed a game of Countdown - with Mr Campbell and Mr Connelly from Ryton Comprehensive and our very own Liam Kelly as Team Captains!
Then we were entertained by Dr. Mark and some magical maths!
On Thursday we found out all about Pythagoras' Theorem a2 + b2 = c2. We went onto the yard to meet some of the builders from the building project and found out how they use this to make sure they don't build wonky walls!
Who guessed the 90 degree angle the most accurately?!
On Friday we had a trip to the Centre for Life in
We also learned how spies use Maths...
Phew! What a week! Class Six had a great time learning about maths in lots of different ways!
