On Wednesday Class 2 enjoyed a fabulous day out at the Sunderland glass centre.  We started the day by watching a film about how glass was made many years ago.  We were very surprised to see that the workers didn't have to wear any protective clothing.

We then went back to the classroom and started our glass painting.  Firstly we had to decide what we would like to be when we grow up.

Then we traced our image onto a piece of glass.  Once we had done that we were able to paint the glass using special paint.  We really enjoyed this activity.

After we had painted our glass pictures we went outside.  We were amazed that the roof of the glass centre is made out of glass.  We loved playing and jumping on the glass.  Alan's mam was really scared!

Finally to finish the day we watched a live glass blowing demonstration.  It was really interesting to watch how the glass is made, taking it from the furnace, adding the colours and constantly keeping it moving.   Thumbnail image for S6300680.JPG
