Receptions new topic this term is mini-beasts. Today we all went to the City Learning Centre to explore some interesting ICT equipment that allowed us to look very closely at different mini-beasts.
Before we could use the digi blue microscopes we had to go and find some mini-beasts ourselves. We went down by the river to see what we could find.
We looked under bushes, rocks, stones and bark and found some very interesting things. We collected them in jars to keep them safe and then when we took them back to the CLC to put them into mini petri dishes.
We put them underneath the microscope and connected the microscopes to our computers.

When we had a good look at the mini-beasts we used some software called '2 create a simple story' to draw some pictures of the mini-beasts we had found.
We had a fantastic time and are looking forward to finishing our stories when we get back to school.
