After we had our lunch on the beach before playing in the very cold sea. We all got very wet!

Ahoy there !  

The pirates were treated to a dance.  The good ship 'Crookhill' is sailing around the 7 seas this Summer but, it will back in anchor for the start of our new term in September.

On Wednesday, Year 2 children joined Class 3 on a trip to Saltwell Park with Mrs Bainbridge and Miss Dryden. We enjoyed stories in French and English!

Luckily the rain stayed off and the sun even managed to make an appearance.

We enjoyed our picnic a safe distance away from the geese!

Everyone enjoyed the park, the children and staff!

It was a great day and the children were very well behaved. Great times!

Locomotion Number 1.

Going on the slide was brilliant.

The Adventure Playground was a big hit.

Some artefacts were very puzzling.  These items belonged to the ARP, whose job it was to put out fires.

Everyone was soon learning more about living during WW2.  The centre is a very exciting place to visit.

These were stylish glasses during the war years.   Wow!  Do you think they will be 'cool' in the future?

The Pirate Captain's Table arrives next week.  Shiver me timbers!  Will YOU get an invite?  Remember all the dinner staff are looking for good table manners.

At the bowling alley I got my ball and I tried to get a strike.

I was going to get a strike and I did . Yippppppppppeeeeeeeeeee!

I knocked down 9 pins.

My best score was 8 pins down. I was happy.

I got a 6 pins down. Yessssssssssssssssssss!

After the dodgems we went to Macdonalds for an ice cream.

We had a great time.

I had my McFlurry and I enjoyed myself.

Mrs Wannop enjoyed herself, especially the dodgem cars.  Everyone was bumping each other and having a laugh.

This scarf is a reminder to all the world leaders of their promise to have education for all children by 2015.  One pretty big reminder from Crookhill !

Wow! Most of Class 3 turned out to the Ryton Festival to showcase their African songs that they have been learning and practising with Mrs Kirkland. It was a lovely afternoon, they looked very professional on the stage and sounded fantastic!

They were so good that the BBC filmed their singing and they were on the news tonight!

Well done Class 3 and thank you to Mrs Kirkland for all the practising! You have a VERY proud teacher :)

First we went to Peter Barratt's to pick 'Cabby' the Koi Carp.  We picked a fish in Crookhill colours.

When we got to Shasun we had our picnic.  It began to rain.

We put Cabby in the lagoon.

We put some coins in the Wishing Well and made a wish.

The swans went in the lagoon.

The beautiful birds of prey.  We stroked the owl, it felt soft.  They were nice.

This is a rare flower called a Bee Orchid.

We took some bags home.  It was a wild child bag.  It had sweets, activity book, booklets, colouring in books and stickers.

We also had to train the staff how to use a Bow saw and a bill hook. Mrs Bainbridge was very adventurous and used her new skills to make a mallet.

Parents have been invited into school to talk about any concerns, worries, thoughts they may have about school and to make some things for their child to bring to school on their transition days.

The first thing we made was a 'thought bag'. The idea of the thought bag is for children to talk about any worries they have about starting school. I think it is fair to say that the parents really enjoyed making the bags out of our fabulous Crookhill T - towels.

The second session was about sharing the interests of our children. Miss Brown has learned lots about the children's favourite foods, toys, songs and games. We made boxes for our children for them to put in their favourite things.

We would like to say a big thank you to all the parents who attended. See you next Monday for the final meeting.

The production was all about a quiz show where contestants had to answer questions about what they would do in certain situations. Britney Brown was terrible and got all the answers wrong. We at Crookhill are all going to try to be like Chanelle Smith the other contestant who knows what to do in lots of tricky situations.

We learned what to do if a stranger approaches. Do you "say no or say nothing?" We know that we say nothing and walk away. We learned about the dangers of the internet and how we can protect ourselves by not giving out our personal information such as where we live and what school we go to.

At the end of the producation some brave volunteers came up to the front to take part in the quiz so we could see how much we had learned.

They were impressed at how much we knew. We all now know how to keep ourselves and each other safe.  

These are the lucky children who were chosen to dine at the Captain's table first.

It wasn't just the children at the Captain's table who enjoyed the football fever though, the whole of the dining room was decorated with England flags so we could all enjoy it.

On Wednesday we had our P.E session on the field, but we got a little side tracked and visited our campsite. Because of all the rain and sunshine we have had the grass in our campsite area has gotten a little long. Because an extension lead will not stretch that far we had to resort to other methods to cut the grass.

 Yes... scissors.

On Thursday we went back to the campsite for our weekly visit. After cutting the grass on Wednesday it was much easier to get in. Miss Brown finally managed to make a fire after we had collected lots and lots of different types of fuel for the fire.

Because it was Bethany's last day on Thursday we all sat round the campfire eating the chocolate she had bought us. It was delicious. Thank you Bethany!!!

On Friday we were visited by a theatre company that taught us all about being safe at home, at school and on the computer. We have had such a busy week we are all really ready for the weekend. See you on Monday morning ready for our fun creativity week!!! 

Everyone was really brave for having a go on the high ropes course - it took lots of determination to get right to the top.

Snow tubing was great fun! We experimented with different ways of coming down the slope, including 'fast and furious', 'big spinning circle' and 'backwards in pairs'. 

Archery was great fun - we had a competition to see who had the best aim - watch out Robin Hood!

The rain didn't put us off too much, but there were some very muddy shoes after the assault course!

After Whickham Thorns we traveled up to Gibside. We unpacked and settled into our dormitories. Some of use were already quite tired and had a little rest before tea!

We enjoyed a delicious Shepherd's Pie and fruit and ice cream before heading out on a Nature Walk around the beautiful Gibside estate.

We returned to The Stables for hot chocolate and then headed to best after an exhausting day. Some of us even got some sleep!

We had a competition between each class to see how fast we could kick the football into the goal. There was a special speed radar camera placed behind the goal measuring the speed of the ball. Some of us had absolutely fantastic scores. The winner from each class was presented with a special medal.

We put lots of different obstacles on the map such as mountains, palm trees and sharks.

Adam is very proud of his map.

By the end of the week when they are fully completed they will all look fabulous.

To continue with our seaside theme we made seaside sandwiches. Most of us didn't fancy traditional egg and tomato or tuna so we had either jam, ham or cheese.

We used seaside shape cutters to cut our sandwiches.

On Tuesday night our team played Emmaville. The first goal was scored by Bethany  - the first girl to score a goal in the league! This was followed by two goals from Liam, then one from Bradley and James made it five.

It was a really exciting match with end to end action, Emmaville played well but Crookhill were victorious scoring 5 goals to 4. Well done to everyone involved. It was a fabulous team effort. A special well done to all the goal scorers and to James, who was our man of the match!

We spent the afternoon eating hot dogs, dancing and cooling down with a nice glass of juice and an ice-cream.

After all that eating and dancing some of us needed a nice rest in our beach.

We ended our disco with the conga. We all had a great time!

What a busy and stressful week we have had! In Class 3 we made job adverts, designed interview questions, filled in application forms, short listed applicants and held interviews!!!

We were pretty nervous for our interviews and really wanted the job. Well done to all those children who were successful in their application!

We are fully prepared for job applications and interiews when we're older now! (Although, I'm not sure how often a job for a professional wrestler will come up!)

First we told everyone about the different features of a river.  There was the source, a meander and the mouth.  

Next we told everyone about all the interesting facts we had found out about water.

Did you know that 75% of a chicken is made of water!  We also read out our letters persuading people to cut down on their use of water.  

Finally, we finished our assembly with a water rap.  Everyone was so impressed that we did an encore.  People were even joining in with the actions from the audience.  A big thank you to everyone who came.  It was lovely to see so many friendly faces.   

We read the ancient Chinese Myth about the Four Dragons, who become the four great rivers of China. We then changed this into a playscript to perform in the puppet theatres.

We added some Chinese themed music and decorated the theatres using ancient symbols. Look at us below - giving away all the secrets of our performance!

Class three and Recpetion really enjoyed our performance! 

We collected 2 pieces of fairy breath each and helped each other to make a bracelet.

We used little pots to catch the mini-beasts. The pots had a magnifying glass on the top so we could see the features really clearly. There was lots of little ants hiding the cracks in the pavement.

We walked up the avenue towards the stables and found lots and lots of mini-beasts. Rohan kept a check of how many different mini-beasts we could find. There were just far too many flies to count.

On our way up the avenue we heard some baby birds chirping away. We looked carefully to see if we could find where their nest was. Can you spot it?

To find more mini-beasts we walked into the woodland area where we found hundreds. We were all very brave and picked up lots of different minibeasts like dragonflies, ladybirds, woodlice, millipedes and many more.

The final treat of the day was shaking the tree to see what fell out.
