We had practised running stitches and cross stitches. We had also learnt how to join buttons and applique. Finally, we had designed some amazing cushions and just needed a little help to sew our product. Our designs were complicated but that did not stop us (or our grown ups!)

We remembered the different types of rocks that we were taught in our Science lessons. We also discussed the difference between natural and man-made rocks.

We used an ariel photograph of our school to mark where we found any rocks. We also tried to identify them. Most of the rocks we found were sedimentary rocks and we explained this by saying that our school was close to a river. We didn't find any igneous rocks as we are not close to a volcano.

We had to make sure we made flat faces for some and curved faces for others. The easiest was the sphere and the trickiest was the square based pyramid.

We practised netball skills. We found out how to best beat an opponent, which passes are best to use and how to score points. It was tricky for us at first because we are so used to playing basketball and netball has different rules. We finished our unit of work with a mini tournament where we could show off our new skills.

We have been practising our skills in our DT lessons and we made some great designs. Our grown ups helped us to sew our designs together and add the decoration. It was a really lovely afternoon and the cushions look amazing! Thank you to all our visitors who helped the afternoon work so well.

We used place value counters to the correct number of sets so that we could find the answer. Eventually we will start using a written method but for now we are showing a greater understanding of the process.

Using pastels, we created different textured paper. We tore our paper into the shapes we needed to create this flower artwork. It was tricky to tear the shapes of the petals and we made careful choices when deciding which paper to use for each feature of the flower.

We split our counters into 3 different parts for our part whole models. After we recorded our parts we moved the counters to make different parts. And then we moved them again. We found lots of different ways but we didn't have time to find ALL the ways!
