announcement re:school closures

Dear parents and carers,

Following the Government’s announcement yesterday, we have now been instructed to close the school to almost all children after this Friday until further notice.

As advised by the government, we will do all we can to stay open for the children of key workers (e.g. NHS staff, police, others in frontline services) and children with certain needs.

We are waiting for the government to publish more information on what this means, but it would help us in the meantime if you could let us know if you think your child may fall into one of these categories by phoning the school office or sending a text. We’ll be in touch again as soon as we have further information.

All other children will need to stay at home, so we ask that you do not send your child into school from Monday onwards.

If your child usually receives free school meals we will also be in touch with more information about how we will continue to provide this, with support from a scheme that the government has just announced.

Many of you will feel concerned about your child’s education and that you may have many questions. We have prepared for this possibility and will send home learning packs today. Parents and carers or family friends of children who are already self-isolating will be able to pick these up from school on Thursday 3.30-4.30pm or Friday after 10am. Alternative arrangements will be made for those who are unable to collect packs.

These are uncertain and challenging times but staff and pupils have been amazing this week and have kept school running as normal.  Thank you for all of your kind words, patience and continued support through these uncertain times. We will keep you informed and will update our website and Facebook page regularly as well as using text messages to keep communication open with you over the coming days and weeks.

If you want to get in touch to share any concerns, please don’t hesitate to do so.
