Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium Grant is allocated to support pupils who are entitled to receive free school meals or have been entitled to free school meals in the last 6 years.  Schools also receive pupil premium funding for children who are in care, have been adopted from care or who have a parent in the armed services. The funding is to be used to remove barriers to learning and improve academic attainment.

At Crookhill Primary School, this money is used largely for extra staffing to deliver intervention programmes or support in class. Funding is also used for staff training and resources.  All children who are entitled to pupil premium funding receive an appropriate level of support according to their ability or specific need.

The Inclusion Manager works with staff to plan, implement and monitor intervention programmes and support across school. In addition to teaching assistants, experienced teachers work with small booster groups for phonics, reading and basic English and Maths skills.

In February 2021, the government announced a one-off recovery premium as part of its package of funding to support education recovery. This funding ended 2023-2024.

The recovery premium provides additional funding for state-funded schools in the 2021 to 2022 academic year. Building on the pupil premium, this funding will help schools to deliver evidence-based approaches for supporting disadvantaged pupils.

The recovery premium is reported alongside the pupil premium funding as a single sum in Part A of the Pupil Premium Strategy Statement.

The outcomes and impact of funding on the previous academic year are outlined Part B of the Pupil Premium Strategy Statement.
